Pin Web App to Taskbar in Edge, Chrome, or Brave
This video shows you how to Pin a web app to your Windows task bar in Edge or Chrome as of June 2024. We pin iManage web app so we can see the iManage icon on our windows task bar. You can also save a shortcut to your desktop or pin to your start menu.
This works for most web applications to get the correct icon to show. That way you can get the logos for the web apps you want on your task bar or desktop to open and use it, instead of having to go the same web-browser icon for different web applications, and pick from the different tabs/pages that come up.

I am so sorry but I have a mechanical keyboard. It is really annoying for some to listen to, but is so gratifying to use and I LOVE IT SO. If MY ADD brain can remember, I'll plug in a quieter keyboard before my next video -- I'm actually surprised no one has mentioned it sooner. ;-)
This was helpful but I'm still stuck: my header is there but I can only see it when I click on it to edit.. though I can see it on the previous page.? I went through all the steps but Its still hanging me up.
If your document is not confidential you can email it to me (laura@townsendtek.com) and I will take a look. Usually when you cannot see the header without editing, it's because of a setting. Either header/footers are hidden, you're in draft view, or you're using an image (like a logo) for the header, and a setting to not show images got checked. But since you can see it on the previous page -- none of those reasons would explain it. Other reasons could be if Different First Page is turned on and it's only in the first page header, or if there's a section break and it's simply not in the section you're looking at -- BUT that also would not explain it showing up when you "edit header."
Turned out there was a section break that was messing everything up.

Lauren, how do i remove the XML file if I update it and want to reload it with the most recent data? Instead of having multiple copies of it loaded?

Is there something that is not matching up on your screen? The video is old, but Word hasn't really changed. unless you're using the web, online version of Word. I never use that so I don't know if it's different.

Well, you have to get the margins and settings all correct so that the text starts aligned in the right spot.* THEN, as long as your paragraph formatting is "exactly 24 points" for both the numbers on the left and the text in the document you will stay aligned.

is it possible to save a word document to a client matter and not a folder?
I don't think so because I have not seen the ability to do this at any companies for which I've taught iManage Work 10. However, it is configured for each organization so it may be possible. I have seen a lot of places that have a "Doc" or "Miscellaneous" folder set up in their matters as a catch all. And when you are looking at a matter, there is usually a search folder you can click to see all documents for that one client-matter.
No. I work at iManage. It's not possible. Docs must be in a folder.
Thank you for this, as others have said this is exactly what I was looking for and was so hard to find anywhere else, with all other solutions that I had found involving all sorts of convoluted workarounds that just don't work well. Most of them referenced the site (but not the page) of the website you did. Even there I couldn't find this information in a simple get to the point way that you have presented it, so thank you 🙂

Selecting "Line" itself as the item to insert, then resetting the line color and thickness seems to affect all shapes, not just lines. This worked great for me, but may not be what you want. So, you might want to avoid selecting the "Line" shape itself and just change specific shapes. Also, don't forget to clear any extraneous text or shapes off the screen before saving the Normal template or that extraneous stuff will show up every time you open a new document.

Personally show drawing and text boxes on screen helped me because converting word to pdf might sometimes change header footer to drawings and text boxes

@@TownsendTek I managed from the introduction pages and onwards, but I could not put the roman numerals in for the contents page and the abstract/acknowledgements. I left them blank in the end.
@amandaa129 I need to do a video on this! Basically, you would have wanted "next page section breaks" both at bottom of the cover page and end of the contents & abstract/acknowledgments. Then for this document I would: 1. Make sure "Different first page" is turned OFF in all 3 document sections. 2. Turn off Same as Previous/Link to previous in sections 2 and 3. 3. Delete page number field from section 1 (the cover page) if it exists. 4. Insert page number field in section 2 (contents/abstract) if necessary. 5. Format it for section 2 to be lower case roman numeral, starting at "i". 6. Insert page number field in section 3 (Intro and document body) if necessary. 7. Format it for section 3 to be Arabic (1,2,3), starting at 1. 🙂
